Texas CDL Test Truck Rental & Vehicle Familiarization

Plan your Texas DPS test vehicle rental

Choose a rental vehicle that matches the license class, endorsements, and restrictions you are seeking. A Class A combination and a Class B single vehicle are different testing choices. Air-brake equipment, transmission type, passenger capacity, and trailer configuration can matter to your licensing goal.

Contact CDL Test Truck with your Texas DPS appointment location, date and time, current permit class, and vehicle needs. Request a current written quote before making travel arrangements. Availability and the cost of providing a vehicle depend on the selected equipment and test location.

What to confirm before reserving

Ask what is included in the vehicle rental, how long the vehicle is reserved, whether fuel or travel charges apply, and what happens if the appointment changes. Review the rental agreement and refund terms before paying. Ask about any separate familiarization activity you need; it should be clearly described in the quote.

Confirm which vehicle records are supplied and which personal documents you must bring. Review the validity of your permit, your applicable medical-certification status, and any required ELDT completion. A vehicle reservation does not resolve an incomplete licensing requirement.

Prepare for the vehicle you will use

Use the current Texas DPS handbook for the inspection and skills-test requirements. Ask about the vehicle controls, dimensions, and configuration before the appointment. If you need additional instruction or supervised practice, arrange it early enough to build the required skills.

Texas DPS lists restriction codes for vehicle and equipment limitations. For example, an E restriction means no manual-transmission-equipped commercial motor vehicle. Discuss your goal before choosing equipment, especially if you are upgrading a license or changing the vehicles you intend to drive.

The examiner determines your test result. Prior experience and other customers’ testimonials can help you plan questions, but they do not guarantee a pass. Contact our team to discuss the service and equipment that fit your next step.
