Texas Commercial Vehicle Operation practice access

Prepare for Texas Commercial Vehicle Operation with online practice alongside the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver’s Handbook. The published practice bank for this subject contains 80 questions. A practice set uses 20 questions; 16 correct answers is an 80% score. These figures describe this study product and are not a claim that Texas DPS publishes its live examination bank.

Handbook reference: Section 14. Use the current edition linked below and check your selected product’s access period and terms before checkout. A practice score helps you identify what to review; it does not guarantee an official examination result.

Start with the Texas-specific rules

Review the Texas rules for commercial vehicles in Section 14. Focus on how the rules apply to a vehicle and its operation, including required equipment, vehicle dimensions, weight and loading considerations, and safe use of the road. Write down unfamiliar terms instead of memorizing an answer without understanding it.

Connect the subject to your CDL plan

Texas DPS includes Texas Commercial Rules in its commercial knowledge-testing process. Your complete set of examinations depends on the class, equipment and endorsements you need. Use General Knowledge as another core subject, review Air Brakes for applicable vehicles, and add Combination Vehicles for a Class A combination.

Practice decisions, not just definitions

After answering a question, explain which part of the rule determines the answer. If two choices seem similar, compare their wording with the handbook. Pay attention to the units and conditions in a question; a rule about one vehicle or operating situation may not describe another.

Review, repeat and plan your next step

Return to the reference after each practice attempt and explain the topics you missed before trying again. Consistent understanding across repeat attempts is more useful than memorizing answer positions. Keep your application documents, required training and state appointment on a separate checklist.
