20 questions per attempt
You must answer at least 16 of 20 correctly to score 80% or higher and pass the practice test.
Doubles and triples study extends your review to multiple-trailer combinations. Pay attention to the connections between units, the inspection of the entire combination and the handling concerns created by more than one trailer.
Keep coupling and uncoupling knowledge separate from driving-situation questions during your first review. Then bring the subjects together by explaining how a connection or brake-system problem could affect the full combination.
Review Section 7 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook. Use the handbook to understand the material before practicing questions.

Aim for 95% or higher four to five consecutive times on this topic. The practice tracker marks the goal complete after five consecutive qualifying attempts. A score below 95% resets this topic’s streak. An 80% score passes an attempt, but does not meet the 95% readiness goal. This is our practice benchmark and does not guarantee the official Texas DPS test result.
