CDL Written Tests
Choose the knowledge subjects for your CDL path
This catalog brings together the four main Texas commercial learner permit practice subjects: Texas Commercial Vehicle Operation, General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles. Open a subject to review its price, practice question counts and handbook reference before selecting access. Endorsements such as Passenger, School Bus, Tanker and Hazardous Materials have their own subject pages.
Class A and Class B study planning
Class A applicants should review combination-vehicle knowledge as well as the other subjects relevant to their intended vehicle. Class B does not require the Combination Vehicles knowledge test solely for a Class B vehicle. Air-brake requirements depend on the equipment and restrictions involved. Confirm the examinations for your own application with Texas DPS, particularly when adding an endorsement, upgrading a license or removing an equipment restriction.
Use practice alongside the handbook
Read the current Texas CDL handbook before attempting a practice set. Explain why an answer is correct, note the topics you missed and return to the source before trying again. A score of 80% is the passing benchmark described on these practice products. Consistent understanding across repeated attempts is a useful study goal, but no practice score guarantees an official test result. Practice access is a study aid; it does not issue a permit or replace required ELDT.
Before you select access
Check the subject, access period and terms on the product page. Use the free demonstration where offered to see how the questions work. Contact the team about account access or choosing a topic before purchasing. Keep knowledge practice, ELDT requirements and a skills-test vehicle reservation as separate steps in your plan.
